He earned a B.S. in animal husbandry from Rutgers University in 1935, and a B.S. in zoology from Michigan State University in 1938. Albert Merritt Ewert was born in Rawlins, Wyoming Territory, in 1886. His parents were Rev. A.L.T. Ewert and Laura Miller Ewert. He had two brothers, Arthur and Earl, and three sisters, Anna, Ethel and Carol. Albert attended Greer College and Northwestern University.
